ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Sheena Kowalski lives and works in New York’s Hudson Valley. She holds a BFA in
Illustration from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Sheena is an emerging
fine artist, illustrator, and writer who works in the styles of surrealism, symbolism,
Medieval art, and the macabre. Her work has been in various group shows around the
New York area, including: Starrett-Lehigh Gallery, Charmingwall Gallery, Amy Lin
Projects, Front Street Gallery, Putnam Arts Council, and Studio Around the Corner. Her work was published in Creative Quarterly Magazine, Issue 62.
Sheena also instructs oil painting classes around the Hudson Valley area. She works in
various mediums, such as: oil paint, watercolor, inks, and collage. Her inspiration
delves from her connection to nature and the supernatural world, creating strange
anthropomorphic creatures and plants while extracting images from her vivid
otherworldly dreams and childhood experiences.
